Coast to Coast

I just got back from driving from Oregon all the way across the country to North Carolina - all within 3 days!  My best guy friend is in the Marines, stationed at Camp Lejeune; he wanted his car over there and was planning on driving it back all by himself, so I decided to go and help drive and keep company!
We are both well-traveled people, and during our trip we realized how much of our own backyard that we didn't know! Now it was a fast trip, but we were able to see a lot of amazing and beautiful parts of the country along our way...through Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and finally North Carolina!
It was such a neat experience to watch the landscape change, the weather change, and even see the difference in people as we made our way across.  But we never lost sight of the American spirit...from roadside flags, to military billboards, and the friendly and warm personalities of the people we came across.  It was a long 3 days but well worth it!
One of my favorite parts was just reminiscing over past memories.  We had been best friends since the 6th grade, and too often we take those people for granted and forget about some of the best times.  From silly crushes, to stupid fights, we covered it all - and even though we had set out on the trip best friends, we ended it feeling even closer, even though we had shared so many of those memories together over the past eight years.  Sometimes it's important to take time out of our crazy lives and spend some real time with those close to our hearts - even the strongest friendships need a little tightening every now and then :)
